This poem uses images of nature to explore the self and the feeling of isolation amongst other people. The photo that accompanies it is a 35mm image I took of a tree that I found striking. It was really close to my house but I'd never seen it before and it really stuck with me. The way the branches contort reminds me of the feeling of being uncomfortable, which then reminded me of my poem. I also pushed the film from ISO 400 to 1600 in order to photograph some darker spaces and just experiment.
There are also two images from a separate project, I took of one of my best friends, May. These were on the same pushed roll and show an intimate, close-up portrait of her. She means a lot to me and has helped me feel a lot better during my isolation whilst having covid. I've been feeling very stuck and these photos made me feel a little more confident.
