As a multimedia artist, my desire is to experiment and treat the many objects of this
world as a surface to dwell my mind and creative actions upon. As a human, my desire is to reflect on myself. Specifically my past, a torturous flip through nostalgia that rains to be both a past reminder of love and friendship that once was and never should be again. Through my layered drawings, I wanted to meditate on the reflections I seem to frequently revisit in a visually poetic medium. Calling upon my desires, emotions, and dreams in a both linear and surreal approach. Treating this as a confessional view of my mind, looking at both the way a heartbreak can be devastating, as well as simple observations of life. I have been working on this series for over a year not knowing what it truly is, only knowing that it was the basis for my outlet of self reflection and desires. The way I made it was through a vigorous streak of experimentation with overlays of tracing paper, printing on multiple surfaces, and a lot of reading, listening, and watching. The specific books, music, and films that inspired this series was that of: The Roominghouse Madrigals by Bukwoski, In A Year Of 13 Moons by Fassbinder, My Own Private Idaho by Van Sant, The Unbearable Lightness Of Being by Kundera, and finally, the most prominent and earliest inspiration, Current Joys by Nick Rattigan.
