She
She spent all summer looking for love. Then she realized she just loved summer itself. Surrounded by warmth and light she forgets the boundaries of time. The days, weeks, and months blend into one long summer day.
She’s sleeping beauty and summer is true love’s kiss. The small child that hibernates inside her during the cold, hard times reawakens. Her inner girl is like a fragile, pink petunia. Each year she fears that winter’s frost has killed this girl. However, to her delight, summer’s light rejuvenates her. When she awakens they run through the park holding hands. Their dresses flounce in the wind. Together they remember what it feels like to be a girl. So they eat candy till they crave spinach. And they twirl till they forget their feet and fall dizzy. When summer stop warming the sand and the leaves turn red. She will count till days they meet again.
Both Nathalie and I had a similar vibe we want to capture. We wanted to a pink, girly, vibe that was focused on the simplicity and beauty of being a girl. As feminists, Nathalie and I love reclaiming the color pink. Natalie drew inspiration from photos in the 90s where people over accessorize. I drew inspiration for my writing from how I felt while shooting.
