I am a novice stylist with a passion for putting together photo shoots. There is something so transformative about having an idea in your head and then bringing it to life. This shoot was inspired by a book I had recently finished. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer- a true masterpiece of a book if I do say so myself. The book follows the adventures of Chris McCandless and his itinerant lifestyle as he strays away from his conventional ways. Nature is evidently a big theme in this book. Chris uncovers the richness of possibility and beauty that nothing else than nature can present.

Upon finishing Into the Wild I immediately set out on some of my own exploring. I knew that for my next shoot I wanted to incorporate some of Chris's ideals. I stayed away from the awful consequence of capitalism- fast fashion. I thrifted everything I used/ styled for the shoot: clothing, accessories, etc. I also had us walk to the locations as opposed to using a car or taking public transportation. The black and white film I felt added a depth to it that color wouldn't have been able to. And lastly, I wanted to work with nature and not just have them be in it.
