Day Dream
Carving a moment from a
day dream and letting it breathe
before dipping it in a pink
haze and spraying it with
something that shines in the light.
Stick it out in the sun and
forget it’s there
until the rain is pouring
and it’s soaking wet,
warped in the wrong places.
Take it inside and pretend you
can salvage it until
it’s tattered, scattered across the
linoleum kitchen floor.
Tell yourself it’s okay while
planning a memorial;
invite your best friends
and set out your favorite
snacks to ease the thud
sitting in your body.
