Arti - CHOKE

When the New York Botanical Gardens gives you an artichoke... take a bunch of self-portraits with it? This is a continuance of my exploration of self-portraiture within the format of instant film. I've been drawn to it as someone who tends to obsess over post-production and editing. The instant format is cathartic as you have one take and there's no expectation of perfection. As a true perfectionist, it is so alluring as a break from that mindset. This set is only the second I've ever done with this set up as I continue to feel out the format.

I feel as if instant has also made me more comfortable as a model. Parts of my modeling career really took a toll on my self-concept. Film presents my form exactly as it exists in space in such a tangible way. It is so much less abstract when you are holding yourself in your hands.
